| Amanohashidate,
meaning "Bridge of Heaven," is a sandbar 3.6 kilometers
in length that has been created by sand carried over from the Noda
River and the Sea of Japan, It is renowned as one of three prominent
beauty spots in Japan. The colonnade of about 8,000 Japanese black
pines has been chosen for inclusion in both the "Top 100 Routes in
Japan" and the "Top 100 Pines in Japan." It is also said to be a "floating
bridge," created when a ladder, built by mythological gods for use
in descending, fell from heaven. |
